CRM Project - Project Registration is part of the functionality in Oracle CRM On Demand. It allows partners to register projects with different products. A project is private to a partner and Channel Manager(s), so partners do not need to worry that another partner or company will offer the same product at a lower price.
Today, I got the project from my supervisor Steve Johnston, and started planning for the configuration by downloading documentation from Oracle and doing research on the functionality.
I was following the documentation and applying the default settings in CRM Staging environment. The system configuration for Project Registration is complicated and many categories are involved, including Form Layouts, Access Profiles, and Role Settings.
After configuration in CRM Staging environment, I began to test the system. The majority of the function was running as expected; however, a small feature on Access Profiles was invisible on the system and I had to ask Oracle Support to turn it on for us.
Sierra Wireless had its own CRM settings and I needed to make some changes to the default Project Registration configuration.
I confirmed that Project Registration was running smoothly in CRM Staging environment. The Sales team, Steve and I had a meeting to discuss the layout & field settings of Project Registration.
Based on the previous meeting, I started to make changes on layouts & fields.
The same settings was pushed to CRM Production, and I still kept it off until I got the final approval to activate the functionality.
I was presenting the functionality to the Sales team. Meanwhile, we were testing different senarios together on the design. The Project Registration Design met their requirements.
The Sales team was training one of our partners on how to use the Project Registration in CRM.
The partner had been playing around the functionality for a few weeks, and the discussion was focusing on the feedback and how to run the business with Project Registration efficiently. In addition, the partner gave us some suggestions on the design.
The functionality had been activated for the partner and the corresponding Sales Channel Manager.
More and more partners can enjoy this functionality.
